Facebook Tagging + Phone #s
Now this is weird… Take the last 3 digits of your mobile phone number. Example: *******235. Write it down such as @*[235:0] Remove the “*” (the star)… Type it in my comments box below then press ENTER. The name won’t show up until you click enter.. YOUR PHONE HAS A NAME **this legit works! this is totally funny and crazy
Upon seeing this on Facebook, along with a few amazed responses, I thought I’d give a quick explanation on how this works.
When you tag someone in a facebook post, it uses the syntax of @[005:Text] to tag that person. Therefore, if you use @[434:0], then it automatically tags and sets the text of the tag for user id 434, directly letting you use the tagging syntax. (http://facebook.com/profile.php?id=005 name shows up when you post @[005:0]).
It’s not magic, just an unintended consequence of Facebook’s tagging system.
However, facebook ids sometimes are disabled / unused accounts, so if you’re number ends in an disabled facebook id, the tagging replacement won’t work.
